Business Secretary Vince Cable opens the MSE offices at Markham Vale...

Business secretary, Vince Cable, along with Derbyshire County Councillor Kevin Parkinson, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, officially opened the new offices of MSE at Markham Vale on the 31 of May 2012.

MSE Hiller's new building and offices at Markham Vale are just off the purpose-built junction 29A of the M1 motorway and an ideal location for any business covering the whole of the UK.

Business Secretary Vince Cable said, “I was very impressed by the work going on at Markham Vale. The site is undergoing an impressive transformation from not too long ago when it was a derelict former coal mining area. The achievements here are solid and encouraging.”

The new building which was built to a Breeam "very good" standard  features several environmental advantages such as rain water harvesting, energy efficient lighting, air source heating, solar panels etc

Dr Vince Cable met with three of the young apprentices at site as well as several members of MSE’s workforce and was also able to witness the companies state of the art balancing facility in operation during a tour of the 25,000 sq ft site.

LEP Chairman James Newman said, “It was great opportunity for the Business Secretary to see the progress that is being made.  Markham Vale is considered to be the UK’s number one location for modern manufacturing and technology businesses”.

The Business Secretary was clearly impressed by what he saw at the Markham Vale site and thanked the Directors of MSE - Ivan Fomin, Ivor Schofield and Huw Thomas for their achievements.

Councillor Kevin Parkinson, Derbyshire County Council Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said, “We’re making excellent progress at Markham Vale and I was delighted that the Business Secretary was able to see it first-hand.”
